Under-performing schools can expect administrative changes, the Ministry of Education said.
Filipe Bole, who holds the Education portfolio, expressed concern about the unsuccessful performances by some scho-ols in the Fiji School Leaving Certificate and Fiji Seventh Form Examinations in the past three years.
"Some underperforming schools have shown negative progress in the two examinations for the last three years despite receiving assistance from the ministry," a statement from the ministry said.
Such under-performance was a reflection of the school leadership, it said.
"The minister says many of these school heads have been comfortable, unthreaten-ed and lacked vision," the statement said.
The ministry will make changes in these schools beginning with the principals and heads of department as a 'wake-up call'.
"He (Bole) is advising all school heads in the primary and secondary level to check the school vision and communicate them to all levels within the school and beyond."
The statement said the purpose of a vision was to develop a school culture which set the standards and guided the daily actions of administrators, teachers and students.
"It (vision) wields astonishing power in shaping what people think and how they act and at the end of the day, children are easily identified as products of a school because of its culture," the ministry said.
